Maker of the Month: Silverado Salvage Warehouse
One of my favorite things about being a flea marketer + blogger is all the amazing makers you meet along the way. I'm excited to announce a new series for the blog, "Maker of the Month", which I hope will allow you to connect with local businesses + artists to create a supportive + encouraging community.
Once a month, I will feature one artist, maker, or business that embodies great design, kind hearts + a love for all things found + kept. I couldn't have found a more perfect + inspiring business than Silverado Salvage for the first Maker of the Month!
Maker of the Month | Silverado Salvage Studio
Without a doubt, owner Jeff Mack, embodies unbelievable design + his incredible success comes second to his generous + joyful spirit. Silverado Salvage not only curates salvaged finds, but offers custom built furniture, cabinetry, fences + pretty much anything else you can imagine. They often use salvaged + reclaimed wood for their custom furniture + also offer custom metal work.
I met Jeff at the Long Beach Flea Market last month + I immediately fell in love with his finds. My LB Flea Feature even showcased many of his pieces. After purchasing an amazing iron, engraved theater armrest (I know, right?) I decided to make my way over to his warehouse just outside of DTLA to check out all the other amazing pieces.
I wasn't surprised by Jeff's business story, of leaving the corporate retail world, traveling around in a Penske truck curating his found pieces, which then evolved into this 20 years plus Silverado Salvage business. That story just seems to fit Jeff + his ambitious nature.
You can't help but be inspired when you step into his warehouse. From top to bottom the warehouse hosts beautiful, vintage, worn-in, pieces of history. If you're looking for unique finds, custom furniture, architectural pieces, or reclaimed wood, Silverado is your place. Of course I left with a few pieces in hand as well...
Take a Tour Inside the Studio
With over 600 jobs in the recent years their custom furniture is taking off! Their custom items are beautiful pieces of craftsmanship + I can't wait to hire them to create a dining table for myself one of these days. The future looks bright for Silverado as Jeff is looking to expand his searches to Eastern Europe + South America + I can't wait to see what amazingness he brings back.
