I fell in love with Urban Americana at the Rose Bowl Flea when a pair of vintage spun fiberglass chairs caught my eye (I still regret not swooping them up). Since then I've been stalking their inventory + Instagram + decided there was no better company to feature for this month's Maker of the Month.
Mid-century design has been my obsession lately + this place sure pushed it into high gear. The moment you walk into their warehouse you feel transported to a slower time. You want to mosey down the aisles + take in each + every piece as they are all special. The light + bright space displays a variety of different styles. From vintage mid-century furniture to funky bohemian decor, traditional iconic americana to antiques, everyone is bound to find something that speaks to them.
Chris, owner of the store, began collecting vintage + antique pieces for his home many years ago. Eventually, this evolved into a full-time job + a warehouse full of his finds. Urban Americana is a play on Americana goods with a twist of urban living. The space is highly curated, organized + honestly, my dream shopping experience.
I especially loved the relaxed succulent garden as a place to chill + take in the beautiful Long Beach sun. Urban Americana is more than a shopping experience. Drawing inspiration from the old antique markets he visited as a kid, Chris wanted to update the experience + transform it into an inspiring place for people to congregate, enjoy + connect.
One of my most favorite things about Urban Americana is the importance on human connectivity, for example the succulent garden is shared with neighbor Working Class Kitchen to host "Long Beach 3rd Sundays" cookouts for the community.

Big things are happening to this wonderful company as they will soon be offering interior design services to their list. Opening only 2 years ago Urban Americana has exploded + ain't slowing down anytime soon. I had an absolutely wonderful time exploring + getting to know the company, if you've never been this is your time to go!
